Our CO/LAB:kids programming is a new series of programs specifically designed for actors ages 13 and under.
co/lab:core weekly class
Each Fall beginning in 2018, we are offering a brand new CO/LAB:core class for kids ages 9-13. Actors will explore the fundamentals of theater through acting games, music, movement, visual arts, improvisation, and imaginative play. This 11-week class gives young actors the opportunity to grow their theater skills and create together as an ensemble. Families are invited to join us for an informal sharing on the final day of class.
THEATER TOPICS for kids CLASSES
Developed and taught by our Teaching Artists, Theater Topics Classes are single classes that explore a particular aspect of theater-making. The focus of these workshops varies from session to session, and can be attended without any prerequisite classes. Theater Topics classes will be announced as they are scheduled.
GUEST ARTIST SERIES
Our Guest Artist Series is an opportunity for the CO/LAB community and the professional NYC theater community to work together. Professional NYC-based artists will come to CO/LAB and teach workshops in their special area of expertise. Past workshops have included devised theater and Balinese shadow puppetry. Guest artist workshops will be listed as they are scheduled.
Camp BlueLAB is a collaboration between CO/LAB and the nonprofit theater group Bluelaces Theater Company. Bluelaces creates highly interactive, sensory-based theatrical experiences for people of all ages living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental differences. Like CO/LAB, Bluelaces believes that all individuals, regardless of ability status, should have the opportunity to experience the magic of theater in a lively and welcoming environment.
Camp BlueLAB will bring summer theater fun to kids ages 9-13, giving participants an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of theater in a creative and safe environment. Our team of Teaching Artists will facilitate the program with support from counselors with and without developmental disabilities. The camp will culminate in a theatrical sharing for friends and family!
