CO/LAB’s 10-Year Vision
As we prepared to celebrate our 10th Anniversary Season and the many successes we’ve had over the past decade, we also set our sights on the future. We gathered our Board, Staff, Associate Board, Advocacy Committee, CO/LAB leaders, key funders and donors, and Actors, and asked ourselves to think big as we considered a bold question: What will CO/LAB look like ten years from now?
With input from so many of the people who helped make CO/LAB what it is today, we developed this 10-year vision to guide our growth.
CO/LAB will carry out its mission—to offer individuals with developmental disabilities a creative and social outlet through theater arts—for the next 10 years and beyond.
IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS, CO/LAB WILL CONTINUE TO:
Stay focused primarily on NYC-based programs.
Grow our programs, staff, and budget in ways that compliment and support each other.
Ensure that any individual or partner can experience CO/LAB without financial barriers.
The best way to support CO/LAB’s plans for the future is by becoming a monthly donor. Recurring contributions—in any amount—provide much-needed, ongoing support.
10-Year Goals
IN OUR 1ST SEASON we reached 54 actors per year.
IN OUR 10TH SEASON we reached over 250 actors.
BY 2030, CO/LAB WILL…
reach to 1,000 actors with developmental disabilities each year, offering access to a creative and social outlet through theater arts.
IN OUR 1ST SEASON we ran a weekly program in Manhattan.
IN OUR 10TH SEASON we ran weekly programs in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
BY 2030, CO/LAB WILL…
remove current barriers
to participation—such as transportation, cost, and individual support—by programming workshops and residencies in all five boroughs.
IN OUR 1ST SEASON we rented 1 studio per week and 2 theaters per year.
IN OUR 10TH SEASON we rented 6 studios per week and 3 theaters per year.
BY 2030, CO/LAB WILL…
create a physical artistic home for the CO/LAB community— providing emotional comfort and location familiarity—by owning a space of our own or renting a single, accessible space long term and consistently.
BY 2030, CO/LAB WILL…
create a diverse administrative and classroom leadership team that celebrates the intersectionality of disability in order to authentically represent the backgrounds, cultures, and interests of the larger CO/LAB community.
BY 2030, CO/LAB WILL…
continue to build fiscal organizational sustainability while committing to values- aligned, ethical, and equitable fundraising practices in our institutional and individual outreach.
